Facts You Must Know
Is Compassionate Senior Placement licensed by the State of California?
Licensure for referral agencies by the State is only available for agencies that work with medically-based organizations such as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and convalescent hospitals. Most seniors do not require this level of care, so Compassionate Senior Placement prefers to focus on assisted living and other RCFE communities only. So the answer is no, we are not licensed by the State–because there is no license available for what we do. Compassionate Senior Placement does obtain a Residential Care for the Elderly Administrator Certificate (RCFE) which is solely used to “stay on top” of the changing state RCFE Title 22 policies and procedures.
Someone may tell you that you should only work with a licensed agency for assistance with assisted living placement…but remember, there is no such license available. The California Department of Health licenses referral agencies are used only for their work with medical facilities…NOT assisted living communities or any other RCFE. The license simply allows them to receive compensation for placement as a service provider.
RCFEs are licensed under an entirely different department within the State of California and are not considered to be medical facilities. Make sure you know the difference! Some licensed agencies that refer to medical facilities also refer to RCFEs, but their license doesn’t cover RCFE placement. Don’t believe them if they tell you otherwise.
What is important to know is if an RCFE is not the appropriate solution for you or your loved one, Compassionate Senior Placement will help you make the choice that’s right for you!
